Net pay

Net pay, or take-home pay, is what actually lands in your account after tax, social contributions and every deduction. Rent, loans and subscriptions are paid from this number, not from gross pay.

The gap between gross and net is usually larger than people expect, which is why a budget built on a gross salary tends to fail in its first month.
