Day rate

A day rate is the price of a full working day charged by a contractor or freelancer. It is normally derived from an hourly rate rather than negotiated separately, so the two stay consistent.

A day rate is not eight times a salaried hourly wage. It also has to cover holidays, sick leave, equipment, insurance, accounting and the time spent finding the next client.
