Gross pay

Gross pay is what you earn before anything is taken off it: income tax, social contributions, pension deductions and any other withholding. It is the figure in a job advert and on a contract.

Gross pay is the right number for comparing two offers side by side, and the wrong number for planning a month, because none of it reaches your account.
